We’re extremely excited!

The Listeners are have confirmed their time slot for Utica Music Festival in upstate New York this fall.
The Listeners will play at 8pm Friday September 17th at Kozar’s Grill, 1000 Sunset Avenue, Utica, NY 13502.

The festival takes place between the 16th and 18th of September and will showcase some of the best unsigned bands from around the US and abroad, along with Utica city’s hottest restaurant foods and attractions.
Hundreds of performers will showcase their music in bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants all over the city. The event center is held at the Hotel Utica in downtown Utica.

The Listeners recorded their 2nd album in February, April, and May of 2010 at Seaside Lounge Studios in Park Slope Brooklyn, working with sound engineer Josh Clarke to record 11 songs.
The Listeners are assessing options for mastering the tracks for a near-future release date.

The Listeners want to thank everyone who caught our shows this weekend at Bar Matchless, Brooklyn, and Local 269, Manhattan. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. Stay tuned for details of summer gigs!

The Listeners are scheduled for a third session at Seaside Lounge Studios on May 17th. We plan to record three more songs to complete a 10 song 2nd album.
We think these three songs will round out the album:
- Two more hours
- This is my house (and I am the king)
- Only one way out

In our last session we ran the tape for our warm-up, which produced a great version of “PleasurePain.” We think we’ll use the same approach with “Lamentations,” the un-used title track from our first album: we just weren’t happy enough with the take of “Lamentations” in our April 2008 session at Mercy Studios Manhattan, and we feel the song deserves a second chance at recording. If we can grab a good take of it, it could make a perfect 11th track for the 2nd album.

The Listeners had a productive studio date on April 13th, recording four songs. We planned for three songs, but figured we might as well let the tape run for our warm up as well, and we kinda had a feeling the warm-up would be good enough to use. And it sure was - a frantic and ripping version of PleasurePain.

So far we have 7 songs for our 2nd album in the can. We’re planning a return to the studio in May to get the last three songs done and ready for mastering.

We’re primed, pumped, raw, ready to go!
Our live set list from the last 18 months is crying and mewling like an angry overheated baby, demanding justice for all those live sets, screaming to be recorded, yowling and howling for us to enter the tracks into our permanent record. Give the baby what it wants…..

The Listeners will return to Seaside Lounge studios in Brooklyn on April 13th for another full day recording session to record further tracks for an upcoming 2nd album. The first three songs were recorded in February and are currently posted on our Myspace page. We’re hoping to get another three songs done in April.
